HP-UX 11i NSA HTTP Software

System Requirements

NSA HTTP Service Daemon

The NSA HTTP daemon nsad is activated for every socket listening on the TCP port

registered with NSA HTTP. If logging is enabled, nsad logs HTTP access events to the log ﬁle,

which by default is /var/nsa/nsahttp_log.pid where pid corresponds to the process ID of

the nsad process. The nsad kernel daemon is also used in establishing the TCP connection for

NSA HTTP registered TCP ports and servicing cache requests.

System Requirements

• Hewlett-Packard server or workstation running HP-UX operating system version 11i,

either 32-bit or 64-bit environment

• PHNE_28089 or greater, cumulative ARPA Transport patch for 11.11

• HP-UX 11i NSA HTTP Release Depot

Installation

This section discusses the steps required to install, activate and conﬁgure HP-UX 11i NSA

HTTP. Also, steps to deactivating and deinstalling NSA HTTP are listed.

Installing HP-UX 11i NSA HTTP

1. If not already on the system, install PHNE_28089 cumulative ARPA Transport patch or

the patch which supersedes it. This is a kernel patch and therefore requires a system

reboot.

2. Download HP-UX 11i NSA HTTP software from www.software.hp.com (keyword “NSA

HTTP”) into a local ﬁle, such as /tmp/NSAHTTP.depot.

3. Install HP-UX 11i NSA HTTP with the swinstall utility

swinstall -s /tmp/NSAHTTP.depot NSAHTTP

4. Verify that the HP-UX 11i NSA HTTP software is installed:

swlist | grep NSAHTTP
