Announcement
DHCPv6 is an extension of DHCPv4 that defines a protocol for passing configuration
information to hosts on a network. The key objective of DHCPv6 is to support IPv6, the next
generation Internet protocol. DHCPv6 automatically allocates reusable network addresses
and reduces the cost of managing IPv6 nodes in environments where administrators need
more control over the allocation of IPv6 addresses. DHCPv6 manages network resources such
as IP addresses and server addresses like Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), Domain Name
System (DNS), Network Information Service (NIS), and Network Information Service plus
(NIS+), at a centralized location.
DHCPv6 2.001 is based on RFC 3315 (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for IPv6
(DHCPv6)) and is available on the HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX 11i v2 operating systems as a
Web upgrade.
IMPORTANT DHCPv6 v1.001 was the previous and first Web upgrade release of DHCPv6 on
the HP-UX 11i v1 operating system and was based on the DHCPv6 draft
version 18.
