Unsupported Features
This section lists and describes the BIND 8.1.2 options that are not
supported in BIND 9.2.0:
• named-xfer
This option is obsoleted because it is a part of the named binary.
• memstatistics-file
This option is obsoleted in this release as the option
"deallocate-on-exit" is always enabled and checks for the memory
leaks.
• statistics-file
This option is not supported in this release as it uses a huge amount
of memory and degrade the response time.
• check-names
This option was used in zone statement in BIND 8 to restrict the
character set of domain names in masterfiles and/or DNS responses
received from the network. BIND9 restricts the character set of
domain names and therefore check-names is being obsoleted.
• allow-update
This option is obsoleted as slave or stub are not allowed to receive
any Dynamic DNS requests, they are supposed to send the request to
a master server.
• no-round-robin
This option was used in BIND 8.1.2 to turn off the default round
robin, which cycles returned IP addresses for multi-homed hosts.
• deallocate-on-exit
This option is no longer in use as the server now always checks for
memory leaks.
• fake-iquery
This option is obsolete and is always set to “no”, thus not allowing to
simulate DNS IQUERY, which is not used in BIND 9.2.0.
• statistics-interval
