Welcome to Support Plus Note Important information about patches (such as warnings) contained in the Support Plus media may have changed since this document was initially published. To ensure you have the most up-to-date information, please visit the following URL and download the latest version of this document: http://docs.hp.
For the latest release information, see the Support Plus web site: http://software.hp.com/SUPPORT_PLUS If you have immediate questions or concerns regarding changes, please send email to the following address: supportplus@hp.com Note The terms HP-UX 11i Version 1 and HP-UX 11i v1 are the same as HP-UX 11i (B.11.11).
Media Kit Contents The Support Plus CD includes the following patch bundles, software, and documentation. Code and path name examples assume you mount the Support Plus CD to the /cdrom directory. • Hardware Enablement (HWEnable11i) patch bundle Provides patches required for new systems and for add-on hardware supported on HP-UX 11i v1. • Base Quality Pack (GOLDBASE11i) patch bundle Includes all stable, defect-fix patches for the Core OS, graphics, and key networking drivers.
• Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEEPlatform) bundle Enables HP remote support over the Internet. ISEE, a feature of select HP support contracts, replaces HP Predictive Support on HP-UX servers. • Instant Capacity on Demand (iCOD) bundles Includes the Purchase software agent in the B9073AA iCODpurchase bundle, and the Pay-Per-Use software agent in the T1322AA iCOD-utility bundle. • Bundle readme files Are available in text and HTML formats with hyperlinks to the patch text files.
• Detailed technical reference for patch operations Are available in PDF format in the /cdrom/PATCH_TUTORIAL.PDF file. Note The GOLDQPK11i depot on the Support Plus CD contains both the Base Quality Pack (GOLDBASE11i) and Applications Quality Pack (GOLDAPPS11i) bundles. Support Plus does not create a new HP-UX release. Support Plus provides you with patches to apply to your HP-UX release. You cannot use Support Plus to install a new operating system (OS).
Key Notes These notes apply to Support Plus releases for HP-UX 11i v1. With each release, check your system against this information: • Quality Pack (GOLDQPK11i) Bundle Updates The GOLDQPK11i depot contains the GOLDBASE11i and GOLDAPPS11i bundles. The GOLDBASE11i bundle provides defect fixes for the Core OS, graphics, and key networking drivers. The GOLDAPPS11i bundle provides defect fixes for HP-UX OE (operating environment) applications. They are updated every six months: June and December.
• HWEnable11i has patches to support GSP FW updates Please note these dependencies for rp7400, rp54xx, and Lclass servers with A6696B GSP cards and rp24xx products: • You must install PHNE_27760 and PHCO_28169 (or superseding patches) before system is updated with GSP FW Revision B.02.12 or C.02.17 or later.
1. To download either firmware patch, go to the web: http://www.itresourcecenter.hp.com 2. Log in with your IT Resource Center user ID and password. 3. OnlineDiag bundle needs to be loaded The June 2003 OnlineDiag version is A.41.00 (B.11.11.11.xx). If you remove or do not install the OnlineDiag bundle, some products with dependencies on OnlineDiag will not function correctly. To ensure the reliability of your computer system, HP recommends strongly that you load the OnlineDiag bundle: • Each Support Plus release provides the latest tools and hardware monitors. • Support Tools give you multiple protection against hardware failures.
Mounting the Support Plus CD 1. On the system, open a terminal window and log in as root. 2. Insert the Support Plus CD into the drive. 3. If necessary, define a new directory as the mount point for the CD drive. To define /cdrom as the mount point: mkdir /cdrom 4. If necessary, identify the drive device file: ioscan -fnC disk This command lists all recognized CD drives and their associated device files. The filename will be something similar to /dev/dsk/c1t2d0. 5.

'-k' option is used. In the specific case where the '-k' option is used and all of the volume groups specified in the cluster ascii file are not imported on all nodes in the cluster, the commands will fail. - This behavior is also exhibited with superseding patch PHSS_27725. - Please note that this behavior will not occur if all volume groups specified in the cluster ascii file are available on all nodes in the cluster. The behavior will also not occur if the '-k' option is not used.
of the command as full disk probing will be performed rather than the reduced probing that is performed when the '-k' option is specified. - If this workaround it not acceptable, HP recommends remov ing PHSS_27246 and PHSS_27725 from systems exhibiting this behavior. - The previous patch, PHSS_26056, does not exhibit this same behavior.
