System and Cold-Install Requirements
To cold-install HP-UX 11i v1.6, you must have the following:
Supported system
HP-UX 11i v1.6 OE and application media (two DVD set)
512 MB memory, minimum
1 GB swap space, minimum
Extra space
needed with TCOE
and MTOE
Cold-installing the HP-UX 11i Technical Computing OE and the
Minimal Technical OE installs all CDE languages, rather than just a
selected language. To remove unneeded CDE language bundles after
installing the TCOE or MTOE, list them using swlist and remove
unneeded bundles using swremove. See Chapter 4, Verifying System
Installation, on page 71 for example uses of swlist and swremove.
Planning Your Disk Space Needs
This section provides hints and information to help you determine your
disk needs for HP-UX 11i v1.6. If you need more disk space, be sure to
order the equipment and plan on installing it after backing up your
current system as explained later in this chapter.
Planning Hints
Record the hardware path to the DVD drive.
Develop a clear configuration plan, including:
File system sizes
Swap space size
Dump device
Disk and file-system parameters
Mirroring information
If installing application programs other than those supplied within
an HP-UX 11i v1.6 Operating Environment (OE), consider the
vendors size recommendations.
