Common Install Error and Warning Messages
The following messages may occur during the HP-UX 11i v1.6 install.
swinstall.log file warning
The cold-install of HP-UX 11i v1.6 produces a warning message within
the /var/adm/sw/swinstall.log file. This warning is common to all of the
HP-UX 11i v1.6 OE installations. The message follows:
* Beginning Selection
* "gold15:/": This target does not exist and will be created.
WARNING: The software specified contains a kernel fileset.
It will be necessary to reconfigure and reboot the system to
make the kernel software functional.
Since products being installed contain kernel objects (kernel filesets),
you need to generate a new kernel, otherwise, this warning appears.
CDE DesktopConfig.LITECONFIG Warning
One or more warning messages may be placed in the file:
/var/adm/sw/swconfig.log during the configure (swconfig) phase of the
installation.
WARNING: The software specification "CDE-ChineseS" refers to a
bundle (or to a product, subproduct or fileset within a
bundle). Only some of the software specified could be selected.
The messages below show those items which could not be selected
and those items which were selected but generated a warning:
* Could not apply the software selection
"DesktopConfig.LITECONFIG,r=B.11.22,a=HP-UX_B.11.22_IA/PA,v=HP
"; it is not available from depot or root "gold15:/".
This message occurs because DesktopConfig.LITECONFIG is excluded
during the installation selection phase due to mutual exclusions with
other products in the HPUXBaseOS bundle. Since the product was
excluded at installation time, but is part of the CDE bundles, the
selection of products at configure time produces these warnings. Multiple
instances of this warning with different software specifications may
occur.
