Introduction
This document contains information about last-minute changes to
HP-UX 11i Version 1.5 and to the cold-install procedures.
Read this document in its entirety before reading any other 11i Version
1.5 documentation, and before taking any steps to install HP-UX 11i
Version 1.5.
• HP-UX 11i Version 1.5 is the first release for all IPF (Itanium
processor family)-based HP-UX systems.
• The release ID for HP-UX 11i Version 1.5 is B.11.20, and the term
HP-UX 11i Version 1.5 (B.11.20) is used throughout the Release
Notes and the Installation and Configuration Guide. See “Media Kit
Contents” on page 10 and “Additional Information” on page 10 for
information about these documents.
NOTE Beginning with HP-UX 11i, the operating system is delivered as part of
the HP-UX Operating Environment (OE). An Operating Environment is
an integrated and tested software solution containing the operating
system and selected applications. In this release, the operating system
and selected applications are provided on two DVDs, to install the full
OE, you must install from both DVDs.
• PA-RISC based systems should continue to run HP-UX 11i (release
ID B.11.11) or earlier releases. This release will not run on PA-RISC
based systems; however, any PA-RISC binaries you have most likely
will run on IPF systems. See http://devresource.hp.com for more
information.
