Appendix B136
VxVM Disk Group
Error During Install
No validation is done on the disk group name to see if it
conflicts with a disk group name currently imported on the
system being installed. If the name conflicts with an imported
disk group the creation of the extra disk group will fail. This is
a feature of VxVM to prevent the creation of duplicate disk
groups. If you do encounter this problem you will be presented
with something like the following messages:
vxvm:vxdg: ERROR: Disk group dg02:
cannot create: Disk group exists and is imported
ERROR: Command "/sbin/vxdg init dg02
dg0201=c17t12d0 dg0202=c17t13d0"
failed.
The configuration process has
incurred an error, would you like to push a shell for
debugging purposes? (y/[n])
To continue and ignore the error enter y and at the shell
prompt enter exit 2 and press return. If you do not wish to
continue the installation answer n.
To resolve this issue, export VxVM disk groups before starting
an install session if you plan on recreating them via the
Installation User Interface. For more information, see the
