HP-UX Processor Sets
HP-UX Processor Sets provides a flexible mechanism for managing system processor
resources among multiple workloads, users, and departments within an enterprise. A
processor set represents a set of processors grouped together for exclusive access to
applications assigned to that processor set. Each application is assigned to a processor
set and will run only on processors in the assigned processor set.
The PROCSETS bundle version A.01.00.00.07 is available on Software Pack (SPK) for
HP-UX 11i v1 September 2005. For more information about SPK, see “Software Pack
(Optional HP-UX 11i v1 Core Enhancements)” on page 27.
Summary of Change
The PROCSETS bundle delivers the optional HP-UX Processor Sets product with latest
patches. This new version includes the latest patch for the Processor Sets product as well
the relevant latest core kernel patches.
The Processor Sets (PSET) functionality was first released in 2001 as an optional
product for HP-UX 11i v1. Since then HP has released some number of kernel patches to
this product as well as to the core HP-UX product. A recent set of kernel patches
introduced some dependency that required PSET customers to install both the core
kernel patches as well as the PSET patch at the same time, failing which the customer
would get an install failure, or worse, a system panic at run time.
This new bundle revision repackages the Processor Sets product by including the latest
relevant patches so that all patch dependencies are managed automatically. All
additional patches included in this bundle are already available from the IT Resource
Center (http://itrc.hp.com).
