If you have to patch your firmware, the ITRC provides a patch database to search, as
well as patch documentation that provides information on how to patch the
firmware.
HP also provides the Subscriber’s Choice, which enables you to sign up to receive
email notices for firmware updates. At the ITRC Web site, click maintenance and
support (for hp products), then support information digests.
Technical System Configuration (TechSysConf)
By delivering part of the functionality that was featured in Easy Setup HP-UX 11.0
(product B5532A) for HP Workstations, the Technical System Configuration bundle
addresses the need of HP workstation and technical server customers for improved
out-of-the-box performance. The TechSysConf bundle (version B.11.11.
xx
) is an
always-installed part of the Minimal Technical Operating Environment (MTOE) (and, by
extension, the Technical Computing Operating Environment [TCOE]).
The TechSysConf bundle consists of two component products:
TC-SysSetup
Alters kernel configurable parameters, assigning values that are proven to increase
performance in technical environments. (See Table 4-7 on page 86 for actual values.)
Alters selected system configuration files to ease NFS and AutoFS configuration.
Makes other system changes to correct minor nuisances and oversights.
TC-OpenSource
Delivers a set of high-demand Open Source software tools:
bash 2.04 (The Bourne-Again Shell)
tcsh 6.10 (tcsh [a superset of C-shell])
vim 5.7 (Vi IMproved)
emacs 20.7 (GNU Emacs)
gmake 3.79.1 (GNU make)
less 358 (GNU less)
xcdroast 0.98alpha9 (X-CD-Roast)
cdrecord 1.10 (CDRecord)
Summary of Change
TechSysConf has been updated to version B.11.11.09.04. In this version, /etc/password
and /etc/group are NOT modified to import NIS-served data.
Impact
The TechSysConf bundle increases the target system disk space occupancy by about
140MB, mostly attributable to the TC-OpenSource product.
