Runtime Plug-in (JPI) for HP-UX
The Runtime Plug-in (JPI) for HP-UX allows you to use the most up-to-date version of
the Run Time Environment (RTE) for HP-UX with Mozilla.
Summary of Change
To support the newer versions of the HP-UX Software Development Kit and Runtime
Environment for the Java 2 Standard Edition Platform (SDK/RTE),

newer versions of
Runtime Plug-in 1.3 and 1.4 are delivered with the September 2005 release.
As of the September 2005 release, Netscape is no longer supported. Only Mozilla is
supported with this and future releases. For Plug-in version 1.3, Mozilla for HP-UX
versions 1.2.1.01 through 1.6.0.01 is the required browser. (Mozilla version 1.7.8.00 is
not supported on version 1.3.1.x.) For Plug-in 1.4, Mozilla for HP-UX version 1.2.1.01
through 1.7.8 is supported.
The Mozilla Application Suite is included in the HP-UX 11i v1 Operating
Environments.

In addition, the 1.5 version of the Runtime Plug-in has been incorporated into JDK/JRE
5.0.
Impact
You will now have the most current Java technology. The Netscape Web browser is no
longer supported with Plug-in 1.3 and 1.4. The 1.5 version of the Plug-in is now delivered
with JDK/JRE 5.0.

There are no known compatibility issues.

There are no known performance issues.

Obsolescence
Runtime Plug-in (JPI) for HP-UX version 1.2 has been obsoleted. Upon update, the
ObsJava12 bundle will remove it from your system.
Version 1.3 of the Runtime Plug-in has been deprecated and will be obsolete in a future
update release.
