Enhanced AutoFS
Enhanced AutoFS version B.11.11.0503.1 is a filesystem that automatically mounts
directories as they are accessed and unmounts them when access is no longer needed.
This product is available on Software Pack (SPK) for HP-UX 11i v1 September 2005. (For
more information about SPK, see “Software Pack (Optional HP-UX 11i v1 Core
Enhancements)” on page 27.)
Summary of Change
Enhanced AutoFS version B.11.11.0503.1 is primarily a defect fix release.
In addition, the kernel symbolic debugging mechanism has been updated to include
Enhanced AutoFS symbols. This will provide engineers with Enhanced AutoFS kernel
symbols for use with Q4 (the HP-UX crash dump analyzer) and the like.
The primary change with this new version of Enhanced AutoFS is in the installation of
the product. The previous version had a depot with three bundles. This led to some
installation troubles when all of the bundles were chosen from the depot. In the new
version, the contents of those bundles have been combined into one bundle, eliminating
any installation difficulty. Once the bundle has been installed on the system, you will no
longer see the three bundles installed, but will only see one Enhanced AutoFS bundle
installed.
Enhanced AutoFS version B.11.11.0509.1, which delivers support for LDAP as a source
of automount maps, is planned to be released on the Web in the Fall of 2005. For more

Impact
For Q4-aware customers, Enhanced AutoFS kernel symbols are now available for
viewing when debugging kernel problems. In addition, the installation of Enhanced
AutoFS is improved.
Compatibility
There are no known compatibility issues.
Performance
There will be no change to the performance of the system or product with this new
version of Enhanced AutoFS.
