HP-UX 11i Test Procedures
Install, Remove, Reinstall Testing
Purpose
The install, remove, reinstall tests were designed to confirm that certain products could be installed,
removed, and reinstalled successfully. The criteria used to define “successful install, remove, and
reinstall” are as follows:
• No make kernel failure occurred.
• No major problems resulted in update failure.
• No errors or warnings were contained in the swagent.log file after each install, remove,
and reinstall step.
• No errors or warnings were contained in the swagent.log file after performing swverify
following each install, remove, and reinstall step.
Test Assumptions
• All applications can be installed from either media or a combined depot.
• All products can handle a reboot situation.
• Products that share files or filesets can be installed, removed, and reinstalled in one group.
Testing Process
• Install system with OE using Ignite/UX
• Save all log files
• Verify the system with swverify
• Save all log files
• Reboot system
• Install Products with swinstall
• Save all log files
• Swverify the system
• Save all log files
• Reboot system
• Remove product groups with swremove
• Save log files
• Swverify system
• Save log files
• Reboot system
• Reinstall product groups with swinstall
• Save all log files
• Swverify the system
