HP-UX 11i Test Procedures
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to communicate the testing methodology used to validate installation
and removal of Operating Environments (OEs) for HP-UX 11i (November 2000 release). To that
end, this paper includes the following information:
Hardware configurations of each system under test (SUT), including whether the
particular system was configured for 32- or 64-bit operation
Software starting points for each test case
Documentation of anomalies detected during installation and removal tests,
including:
o Examples of messages
o Causes of the anomalous messages
o Impacts of the anomalies on the system operation
Each test suite covered both cold installation and updating of the operating system. Please send

Update Testing
Purpose
The update testing was designed to confirm that previous versions (10.20 & 11.0) of the HP-UX
operating system could be successfully updated to HP-UX version 11i (September 2001 release).
The criteria used to define Successful Updateare as follows:
No make kernel failure occurred.
No major problems resulted in update failure.
No previous application versions were required to be removed prior to updating.
No errors or warnings were contained in the swagent.log file after the update.
No errors or warnings were contained in the swagent.log after performing swverify.
Test Assumptions
All applications can be installed from either media or a combined depot.
The update requires no manual steps.
All products can handle a reboot situation.
During the update, all products will completely remove all 10.20 or 11.0 versions.
Network drivers will be installed whether the card is present or not.
Except for HP-PB ATM, all network drivers will be usable after the update.
The update-ux command will be used to perform the update.
The update requires only one reboot.
