The HP-UX release of the HP Apache-based Web Server includes pre-compiled binaries
that have been preconfigured to run on HP-UX 11.0 and later releases. It is supported on
32-bit and 64-bit systems. HP Apache runs as a 32-bit binary on 64-bit HP-UX 11.0 and
11i. It is not supported on HP-UX 10.20.
This version of the HP Apache includes 128-bit strong encryption. Apache SSL
connections use a default dummy certificate provided by HP.

NOTE You must obtain certificates from authorized agencies for commercial purposes and
make the necessary changes in ssl.conf (or httpd.conf for v.1.3.x) to use the desired
certificates.
HP Apache Version 2.0.x
The HP Apache-based Web Server v.2.0.x is built with the “worker” Multi-Processing
Module (MPM). This module implements a hybrid, multi-process, multi-threaded server
and provides high scalability with improved performance.

HP Apache-based Web Server v.2.0.43.00 replaces v.1.3.x in this March 2003 release.
This version of HP Apache is principally a security-fix and bug-fix release. All users are
urged to upgrade immediately to this release.
HP Apache-based Web Server now includes the following features in addition to those
available in v.1.3.x:
• Apache 2.0.43

• mod_perl v.1.99_07
• suEXEC support
• PHP to Oracle Database Connectivity

• After installation, HP Apache is not automatically started. Instead, you must ensure
that the first requirement below (ld and libdld version B11.32 or higher) is met,
and then manually start HP Apache by typing /opt/hpapache2/bin/apachectl
start as root.
