NEWFUSER11i Available on Software Pack
new for December
2004
Now available on the December 2004 Software Pack (SPK) media is NEWFUSER11i,
which was released earlier on the Web via the SPK Web program.
NEWFUSER11i contains a performance improvement for the fuser (1M) command. The
performance improvement is achieved by using a faster kernel API to recognize
memory-mapped files.
With the fuser (1M) performance improvement, it will take less time to do the requested
job: that is, list processes using a file or file structure. This can be beneficial in a high
availability (HA) environment where failover time is crucial. In this environment, fuser
(1M) is used to free mounted resources so they can be mounted at the failover node.
