Ignite-UX (IUX)
Ignite-UX (IUX) is an HP-UX administration toolset to help you do the following:
• install HP-UX on multiple systems in your network
• create custom install configurations
• recover HP-UX systems remotely
• monitor system-installation status
The complete Ignite-UX product, with support for HP-UX 11i, 11.0 and 10.20, is
available on the first CD of the 11i OE media kit.
For additional information about IUX, see “Ignite-UX Changed for 11i” on page 173.
updated for
September 2002
Ignite-UX has been updated to version B.3.8 to incorporate the following changes:
• VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM) “rootability” support:
— With the delivery of VxVM 3.5
1
in the September 2002 11i version 1.0 release,
customers can select, at installation time, to have their root disk managed by
VxVM. However, to use VxVM for the root disk you must upgrade your depots
and/or golden images to the September 2002 11i release, which includes both the
Base-VXVM 3.5 product and the new FEATURE11-11 bundle, which contains the
required patches for VxVM “rootability.” FEATURE11-11 and the Base-VXVM
product are installed by default when you cold install or update to the September
2002 11i release.
— The expert recovery tool now supports both PA systems with whole disk, LVM,
and VxVM disks.
— Prior to this release, VxVM could not be used to control the root/boot disk on PA
systems. HP’s LVM was the only volume manager that could control the root/boot
disk. In addition, make_*_recovery was not supported on VxVM root disks.
• Changes to make_*_recovery:
— Recovery client systems are no longer forced to be the same version as the server.
Clients running version A/B.3.8 (or later) can use an Ignite-UX server that is
running the same (or later) minor-revision of Ignite-UX. (For example, a client
running the B.3.8 version can use a server running B.3.9, but not a server
running B.4.0). When a client is allowed to be a different version than the server,
a warning message is given.
