This chapter lists what is new for the HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) releases.
December 2005 Release for HP-UX
HP SMH 2.2 provides the following functionality over previous HP SMH releases:
• Delivers an upgrade to the HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) release
• Supports flexible launching of X applications and command line interface (CLI) commands through a
Web interface
• Supports visualization of the HP-UX System Administration Manager (SAM) log file through the SAM
Log Viewer
• Supports visualization of system information through the Property Pages
• Supports customers adding custom menus to HP SMH to run commands, launch X applications, and
link to other Web-based applications or Web sites
• For HP-UX, key functional areas of the HP-UX System Administration Manager (SAM) have been enhanced
to provide Web-based management capabilities and are now based on HP SMH. These include such
areas as Partition Management, Peripheral Devices, Disks & File Systems, Users and Groups, and
Kernel Configuration.
September 2005 Release for HP-UX
HP SMH 2.2 provides the following functionality over previous HP SMH releases:

July 2005 Web Release for Linux/Windows
HP SMH 2.1 provides the following added functionality over previous HP SMH releases:
• Added access support for the Power Users group for Windows platforms
• Added support for managed systems running IPF
• Removed unused Linux library files. No impact to usability or performance
• Resolved potential NIC binding issues with Linux platforms
• Corrected NIC teaming issue in Windows environments, where IP address information may be incomplete
• Corrected Windows registry problem, where the HP SMH installer version may not be updated
• Added operating system support for new Windows and Linux platforms
• HP SMH installer changed to remove Java dependencies
May 2005 Release for HP-UX
HP SMH 2.2 provides the following functionality for the initial Management HTTP Server release of HP-UX:
• Delivered the first HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) release
• Supported the HP-UX Tomcats application
• Standardized the HP-UX Graphical User Interface (GUI)
• Enhanced the authentication and authorization functionality
• Delivered HP SMH as a default-installed bundle (SysMgmtWeb) on the HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) Operating
Environment (OE) and Applications (AR) media. It also delivered on the HP Software Depot Web site:

• After install, did not require any configuration tasks
• Browser access using SSL Secure OS based authentication
