Establishing ISEE Monitored Clients
ISEE supports selected operating systems. Installation instructions for each supported
operating system are provided in the appendices of this guide. For a complete list of
ISEE-supported operating systems and hardware devices, please view the ISEE
supported products web page at:
http://www.hp.com/hps/hardware/hw_products.html.
For a successful ISEE installation, complete the following steps:
1. Complete the appropriate connectivity verification, either “Verifying Internet
Connectivity for the Standard Configuration” on page 13 or “Verifying Internet
Connectivity for the Advanced Configuration” on page 15.
2. Complete the section “Collecting Your ISEE Client Information” on page 18.
3. Verify that either Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0+ or Netscape 4.51+ is accessible in
your network.
4. Locate your HP ISEE contact information and support contract information. You will
need this information during the ISEE Client installation and configuration.
NOTE Read “Understanding Entitlement Information” on page 15 to understand the
requested entitlement information.
5. Verify that Adobe Acrobat Reader® (required to view ISEE documentation) is
available in your environment.
6. From the Table of Contents, locate the correct operating system appendix, read it
thoroughly, and verify that you have met all prerequisites before installing your
ISEE client software.
NOTE If you are installing the ISEE software on a host device for a storage device (VA or
EVA) thoroughly read Appendix G, “Storage Solutions Support Software for ISEE
Clients,” on page 125 before installing the ISEE software on the host device.
7. Download and install the ISEE software as directed at both the end of this chapter
and in the appropriate appendix.
8. Complete the configuration sections in Chapter 2, “Configuring ISEE Clients,” that
correspond to your chosen installation process.
Verifying Internet Connectivity for the Standard Configuration
Each HP ISEE Standard Configuration Monitored Client must have access to the
regional HP Support Center through your Web proxy server, or you must open your
firewall to allow communication.
ISEE supports connecting directly to the Internet or connecting through a proxy server.
ISEE supports all proxy servers conforming to the HTTP/1.0 Specification. At this time,
ISEE does not support proxies using proxy auto-configuration scripts or NTLM
authentication (also known as Integrated Windows Authentication). If you are not sure if
your proxy server is supported, contact your HP Support Representative.
