Instant Support Enterprise Edition Overview
Hewlett-Packard Instant Support Enterprise Edition (ISEE) is a secure remote support
platform for your business servers and storage devices. HP ISEE is available in either
the Standard or Advanced Configuration. Your configuration is determined by your HP
Support Agreement. For both configurations, the HP ISEE client software is installed on
each supported device covered by your HP Support Agreement.
To determine your appropriate ISEE Configuration, please consult your HP support
engineer or the support agreement information on HP ISEE download page at:
http://www.hp.com/hps/hardware/hw_downloads.html.
If your environment is or was previously supported with the HP High Availability
Observatory (HAO), contact your HP support representative before proceeding with
installation of any ISEE clients.
NOTE A supported device is a hardware component covered by an HP support agreement before
the ISEE client software is installed. A Monitored Client is the same device after the
ISEE client software has been successfully installed on it.
ISEE Standard Configuration
ISEE Standard Configuration Monitored Clients communicate directly with the HP
Support Center through your firewall and/or Web proxy server. Customers with the
ISEE Standard Configuration are responsible for the installation of ISEE client software
on their supported devices.
ISEE Advanced Configuration
ISEE Advanced Configuration Monitored Clients communicate to the Support Point of
Presence (SPOP) in the enterprise. The SPOP communicates with the HP Support
Center through your firewall or Web proxy server and provides a centralized point of
management for all of your ISEE Monitored Clients. The ISEE client software cannot be
installed on supported devices in an Advanced Configuration until after the SPOP has
been installed.
The ISEE Advanced Configuration also provides a secure Virtual Private Network
(VPN) remote connectivity solution for enhanced troubleshooting and support of your
enterprise. The VPN router and the SPOP are both provided, installed, and maintained
by your HP Support Engineer.
Your HP Support Engineer will work with you to collect required information and
schedule a time to install these components as well as the HP ISEE client software. After
the SPOP is installed Advanced Configuration customers may choose to install
additional ISEE clients using this guide.
Standard Configuration customers, who qualify for a change in support level, can
migrate to the Advanced Configuration without reinstalling their ISEE Monitored
Clients. For more information about this process, see “Migrating Standard Configuration
Monitored Clients to the Advanced Configuration” on page 36.
