Summary of New Features
This section summarizes the new features of the Instant Capacity
product.
Integrated Virtual Partition Environment (HP-UX 11i
v2 Only)
With version 7, coupled with the use of virtual partition software (vPars)
version A.04.01 or greater, you can use the Instant Capacity software in
an integrated virtual partitioned environment. In this environment, the
vPars software coordinates with Instant Capacity when allocating
resources, making it less likely for a complex to be misconfigured and out
of (licensing) compliance.
NOTE Because vPars version A.04 is only available on HP-IX 11i v2, the
integrated virtual partition environment is not available on HP-UX 11i
v1.
With the enhanced integration between vPars and Instant Capacity
software, a compliance check is performed whenever a virtual partition
is booted. If the total number of processors assigned to all virtual
partitions in the current vPar database exceeds the nPartition’s intended
active processor count, the Instant Capacity software notifies the vPar
monitor, and the monitor prevents any virtual partition in the database
from booting until the user has performed a hard partition boot and
modified either the vPar configuration or the Instant Capacity intended
active count for the nPartition.

temporary capacity is projected to expire in 15 days. However, the
