HP Temporary Instant Capacity
TiCAP is a prepaid block of processing time that allows iCAP processors to be turned on and off. This
capability is available for processors only, not for cell boards or memory. TiCAP can be used on any
system that contains iCAP processors by ordering the appropriate TiCAP.
TiCAP is purchased as a 30 processing-day block, which provides 43,200 minutes of actual
activation time per core. For example, with one TiCAP block, one core can be activated for 30 days
or two cores can be activated for one hour a day for 360 days. Usage is measured in 30-minute
increments.
TiCAP applies to all iCAP processors within a server, regardless of the partition in which they might
reside.
Figure 1 shows the use of TiCAP in a system for which two temporary capacity blocks (60 processing-
days) have been purchased.

TiCAP includes temporary hardware support and a temporary HP-UX Operating Environment (OE)
license.
