Temporarily activating and deactivating HP Instant
Capacity processors with HP Temporary Instant Capacity or
HP Instant Access Capacity
After purchasing and installing iCAP processors, five processing days of HP Instant Access Capacity
(IAC) are provided for each core acquired. To access this capacity, use the same process to acquire
and apply a codeword as for TiCAP as described in the following section.
Before the workload demand for additional processors occurs, purchase and install temporary
capacity on the system. Each TiCAP enables any number of iCAP processors for a total of 30
processing days. When additional processors are required, the processors can be immediately
activated.

Adding HP Instant Access Capacity to an HP Instant Capacity system
1. If iCAP processors are not installed on the system, order the appropriate quantity of iCAP
processors. To use IAC, a system must have iCAP processors installed.
2. Obtain the codeword for the IAC from the Utility Pricing Solutions portal.
3. Apply the codeword to the system.
