Paging Space Calculation
Paging Space Calculation
The following shows the calculation of the paging space needed. It is
derived from Table 2-2 in Chapter 2.
✓ For pdclientd 512MB
✓ For 1st spooler 592MB
✓ For 1st supervisor 512MB
✓ For each additional spooler 20MB
✓ For each additional supervisor 20MB
Example: Total paging space for the above configuration:
512 + 592 + 512 + (29 * 2) + (29 * 20) = 2776MB (2.8GB).
NOTE As more simultaneous print requests are expected, more threads will be
created by the client daemon. Threads are memory intensive. For 100
simultaneous print jobs, the CPU is 100% utilized momentarily. This is
an indication that the configuration performance can improve with more
CPUs or faster ones. The swap space utilization did go to 90%
momentarily. As a guideline, you should increase your swap space if it
frequently exceeds 80% utilization.
