HP Write Filter Configuration utility
The HP Write Filter Configuration utility is a GUI that allows you to view information about and
perform common functions of UWF.
To open the HP Write Filter Configuration utility:
In the Control Panel, click HP Write Filter Configuration.
TIP: You can alternatively double-click the write filter status icon in the notification area.
The tasks you can perform in this utility include the following:
View information about UWF
Enable and disable UWF and UWF Servicing Mode

Set the amount of memory to allocate for the cache
Set the percentage of cache use at which warning and critical messages are displayed and the
delay for an automatic thin client restart when the critical state is reached
Edit the exclusion lists, which specify files, folders, and registry keys that will be ignored
Command line
The following table describes common commands that can be issued via the Command Prompt.
UWF syntax example Description
uwfmgr filter disable
Disables UWF on the next thin client
restart.
uwfmgr filter enable
Enables UWF on the next thin client
restart.
uwfmgr.exe file commit c:\myFolder\myFile.txt
Commits the specified file immediately.
uwfmgr.exe file add-exclusion c:\myFolder\myFile.txt
Adds the specified file to the exclusion list.
uwfmgr.exe registry commit <registryKey> <registryValue>
Commits the specified registry key and
value immediately.
uwfmgr.exe registry add-exclusion <registryKey>
Adds the specified registry key to the
exclusion list.
uwfmgr overlay set-size <size>
Sets the maximum size of the cache
threshold in MB after the next thin client
restart.
