Write filter management overview
There are three different ways of managing UWF:
Status icon
HP Write Filter Configuration utility
Command line
Status icon
The UWF status icon is located in the Windows notification area. The following commands can be
executed by right-clicking the status icon and selecting the desired action:
Enable—Enables UWF on the next thin client restart.
Disable—Disables UWF on the next thin client restart.
Clear Command—Clears the current boot command.
The following table defines the different states of the status icon.
Icon Definition
UWF is enabled.
UWF will be disabled on the next thin client restart.
UWF is disabled.
UWF will be enabled on the next thin client restart.
The memory usage of the UWF cache has reached a warning level.
The memory usage of the UWF cache has reached a warning level, and UWF will be disabled on the next
thin client restart.
The memory usage of the UWF cache has reached a critical level.
The memory usage of the UWF cache has reached a critical level, and UWF will be disabled on the next
thin client restart.
UWF is corrupted and unusable.
