HP Smart Client Administrator's Guide

DHCP Tag setup on Windows Server 2003/2008 for Automatic Intelligence
update
DHCP tagging enables you to specify the thin clients to be updated. This is useful if you want only
certain thin clients to run with a particular update; however, if you only have one or two thin clients to
update, you may want to consider using Manual update instead. Otherwise, Broadcast update is
recommended.
NOTE: Your server MUST have the DHCP Role installed in order to use DHCP Tagging. If necessary,
install the DHCP Role using Server Manager.
The following procedure explains how to do DHCP Tagging from a Windows 2008 R2 Server. This
specific server is not required; however, it is recommended that you use one of the operating systems
listed in the HP Smart Client Administrator’s Guide, page 5. Other servers may accomplish DHCP
Tagging somewhat differently.
1. Click Start > Administrative Tools > DHCP.
