do not work and the Try Others setting is chosen, then Global Credentials are tried. As soon as a
credential is found that works, HP SIM notes that credential as working and continues to use it
for regular communications with the managed system as long as it continues to work. If it should
fail, then the process is repeated the next time identification is run. To see the working credentials
for any managed system, go to the System Credentials page
(Options→Security→Credentials→System Credentials).
Credentials are tried in the following order:
1. System-level protocol specific
2. System-level Sign-in
3. Discovery-level protocol specific
4. Discovery-level protocol Sign-in
5. Global Sign-in

Port types
HP SIM displays port types for storage systems. If the values are supplied by a storage system's
SMI-S provider, the port link technology and port type appear.
Port link technologies are listed as
• Unknown
• Other
• Ethernet
• IB
• FC
• FDDI
• ATM
• Token Ring
• Frame Relay
• Infrared
• BlueTooth
• Wireless LAN
The port type is listed if it is one of the following:
• N-Port. A node port
• NL-Port. A node port that supports Fibre Channel arbitrated loop (FC-AL)
• E-Port An expansion port that connects fabric elements
• F-Port. A fabric (element) port
• FL-Port. A fabric (element) port that supports FC-AL
• B-Port. A bridge
