HP Insight Orchestration overview
HP Insight Orchestration delivers advanced template -driven design, provisioning , and on-going operations
for multinode, multi-tier infrastructure services built around HP platforms:
• HP Insight Software
• HP Virtual Connect Enterprise Manager
• HP Virtual Server Environment for ProLiant servers
The Insight Orchestration suite provides life-cycle services for groups of physical or virtual servers. Insight
Orchestration provides:
• Role-based user interfaces and functionality providing integration and orchestration between key roles
of architect , administrator , and users of IT services
• A set of templates that you can use as blueprints for server provisioning
• Tools to integrate logical server planning, design, and provisioning into a unified system
• Effective resource utilization that creates pools of resources that leverage logical server based
virtualization capabilities by HP Virtual Server Environment for ProLiant servers
• Automated resource selection for infrastructure service creation based on resource pools assigned to
users
• Optional workflow integration, such as approval, creation, and deletion.
• Infrastructure shared services based on an automation foundation
• A preference for HP hardware that includes industry-leading unified management
Insight Orchestration is installed during the HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) installation but the Designer
and Insight Orchestration Self-Service portal browser-based user interfaces run independently of HP SIM.
After you install HP SIM, a shortcut to the Insight Orchestration Self-Service portal appears on the desktop
of the CMS. The Insight Orchestration Self-Service portal shortcut provides access to both the Insight
Orchestration Self-Service portal and the Insight Orchestration Designer.

HP Storage Essentials overview
HP Storage Essentials is a suite of value-added plug-ins that offer advanced heterogeneous storage
management functionality including storage area network (SAN) management, storage resource management,
provisioning, and application infrastructure monitoring. HP Storage Essentials includes a core product and
the following modules:
• Enterprise Edition. Main console for open, heterogeneous SAN management
Note: Enterprise Edition is required to have access to the remaining modules
• Provisioning Manager. Heterogeneous host-to-array path provisioning wizard
• Chargeback Manager. Asset-based chargeback management and tier assignment
• Oracle Viewer. Oracle database availability and performance views
• Exchange Viewer. Exchange database availability and performance views
• Sybase Viewer. Sybase database availability and performance views
• File System Viewer. File system scanning to reclaim wasted space
• Global Reporter. Roll-up reporting of multiple HP Storage Essentials Server instances
• Report Designer. Develop customer reports for storage infrastructure
Storage Essentials uses the latest industry standards, such as J2EE, SMI-S, WBEM, and WMI, to ensure that
your storage management infrastructure is extendable and will support both HP and third-party technology,
which enables you to use the technology appropriate to your needs and avoid vendor lock-in.
