Virtual machine guest memory reservation size
If Systems Insight Manager is installed on a virtual machine guest, but does not start and an empty
mxdomainmgr.0.log file is observed in the installation/logs directory, then use the virtual machine
configuration tools to set the guest's memory reservation size to be a minimum of 4GB.
HP Insight Remote Support Advanced compatibility
IMPORTANT: If HP Insight Remote Support Advanced (a version prior to A.05.40) is installed on an existing
Systems Insight Manager installation or you are intending to install Systems Insight Manager as a new
installation, then you must install or update the HP Insight Remote Support Advanced software to version
A.05.40 or higher to make it compatible with the Systems Insight Manager 6.0 installation. The easiest way
to upgrade directly to A.05.40 is to install the latest version available from HP Software Depot at https://
h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=RSADVANCED. This will
preserve your configuration details and avoid some of the manual steps required to update.
Database credentials
During Systems Insight Manager installation, the database credentials must have SQL administrator access
with dbowner rights. After installation, these rights can be reduced.
Database firewall settings
When using MSDE (or Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition), Microsoft SQL, or Oracle database
server located on a remote Windows XP SP2 server, the firewall settings on the remote server must be turned
off. To do this:
1. Select Start→Control Panel→Windows Firewall.
2. Select Off.
