About this document Intended audience The HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) is a web-based interface that consolidates and simplifies single system management for HP servers on HP-UX, Linux, and Microsoft® Windows® operating systems. This release notes is for system administrators and any level of user of HP SMH. New and changed information in this edition These sections list what is new for the HP SMH releases. December 2007 release for Linux and Windows HP SMH 2.1.

1 Features The HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) for HP-UX, Linux, and Windows provides the following features. They apply to all releases, except where noted. 2 System requirements This chapter provides the minimum system requirements for the HP-UX, Linux, and Windows systems to run HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH). NOTE: Installation of HP SMH does not require a browser. The HP Web-enabled System Management Software is hardware-dependent. For the installation to complete successfully, your system must support at least 256 colors. RPMs supported on the x86 platform HP SMH supports the following Red Hat Package Managers (RPM) for each of the Linux operating systems on the x86 platform. The IPF is an Intel Itanium 64-bit processor. Verifying system requirements Before installation begins, the installation utility verifies whether: • • • • For HP-UX, Linux, and Windows, the operating system meets the minimum requirements.
3 Known issues This chapter contains known issues with the HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) releases. HP SMH undergoes rigorous testing before releasing any given version of the product. From HP test activities to date, the following items have been uncovered that you should keep in mind. Please also refer to the HP System Management Homepage Installation Guide and HP System Management Homepage Online Help for known issues. HP SMH 2.2.

HP SMH 2.2.3 release for HP-UX • • This release corrects the 2.2.2 release problem of numerous unnecessary processes attributed to the System Management Homepage startup daemon.
2. Click Use the system's full DNS name. Click OK. System Management Homepage should launch correctly. NOTE: If the problem still exists, run Configure ⇒ Configure or Repair Agents against the managed node. Make sure SSH is working by selecting Configure Secure Shell Access - Host Based authentication and then Relationship - Set to Trust by Certificate. This causes System Management Homepage to prompt you to accept the certificate the first time you run it from HP SIM.
2. Manually add the tag: a. Open the smhpd.xml in the \hp\hpsmh\conf directory on the boot drive with a text editor. b. Add the following line between the and tags: value Note: The value can be 64-512 on Windows systems or 25-64 on Linux systems. The default value for Windows systems is 250 and the default for Linux systems is 25. c. 3. • Save the file. Restart the HP SMH service. HP SMH 2.1.
HP SMH 2.0 release for Linux • • HP SMH already uses the user and group name hpsmh. You should not use it for any other purpose. The user and group ID of 79 no longer must be available for use with HP SMH. HP SMH 2.0 release for Windows • HP SMH becomes inaccessible after installing Windows XP Service Pack 2. In addition, HP Systems Insight Manager and the HP Version Control Repository Manager are inaccessible.
