1 Features HP System Management Homepage (HP SMH) is a web-based interface that consolidates and simplifies single system management for HP servers running the HP-UX, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
Available IP addresses In HP-UX only, when autostart mode is enabled, any access made through port 2301 detects a change in the list of available IP addresses. In previous releases, SMH would only be accessible using the IP addresses defined at system startup. If new IP addresses were defined then SMH would have to be restarted to use them.

Peripheral Devices Configuration (pdweb) HP-UX The pdweb tool lists and manages the OLRAD-capable PCI slots reported by the olrad command and Peripheral Devices reported by the ioscan command. On selecting a slot/device from the list, it displays details about the selected device/slot.

2 Issues and workarounds HP SMH undergoes rigorous testing before releasing any given version of the product. From HP test activities to date, the following items have been uncovered that you should keep in mind. Also, see the HP System Management Homepage Installation and Configuration Guide and HP System Management Homepage Online Help for known issues. HP SMH 7.1 release for Windows and Linux • Issue: Java plug-ins are required and must be enabled for displaying some Help pages in HP SMH.
Workaround: The resolution to this issue is to be provided by Apache Software Foundation. However, there are a few of the commands and options available on Windows operating systems to disable or redirect the dump file creation (to a safer location).
Workaround: To resolve the issue, verify whether the system has all the required 32-bit library packages installed, if not, install the missing packages. • Issue: HP SMH becomes inaccessible after installing Windows XP Service Pack 2. Description: In addition to HP SMH becoming inaccessible, HP Systems Insight Manager and the HP Version Control Repository Manager also become inaccessible.
NOTE: This error is applicable for Windows x86_64 platform for SMH 6.0 only. Workaround: HP recommends that you use the following procedure to manually downgrade SMH to 6.0: 1. Extract the SMH 6.0 component cp010944.exe to a folder say C:\abc. 2. Navigate to the folder C:\abc in the command prompt. Execute the following command: setup.exe /s /removeonly /f1 C:\abc. This removes the currently installed version of HP SMH. 3. Proceed normally to install the SMH 6.0 using the following exe file: cp010944.exe.
1. 2. As a precautionary measure, copy the existing smhpd.xml file into a different directory. Manually add the tag: a. Open the smhpd.xml in the \hp\hpsmh\conf directory on the boot drive with a text editor. b. Add the following line between the and tags: value Note: The value can be 64-512 on Windows systems. The default value for Windows systems is 250. c. 3. Save the file. Restart the HP SMH service. HP SMH 7.

February 2012 release for Linux and Windows HP SMH 7.0 for Linux and Windows includes product enhancements and fixes for internally found defects. The following list of changes is applicable to both Windows and Linux versions unless specifically stated.
April 2011 release for Linux and Windows HP SMH 6.3 for Linux and Windows includes the following product enhancements: • Command Line Interface option to list the current settings in HP SMH. • Enhanced management of HP SMH self-signed certificate. • Consolidated API logging for HP SMH Webapps. • Platform-specific setup files for Windows x86 and x64 versions, available on Windows OS only. • Enhanced installer log handling, available on Windows OS only.
• Port 1188 is the default port used by Tomcat instance within SMH. This port can be configured to a different value. • A new configuration parameter TOMCAT_PORT is added in HP-UX 11i v2 to configure the port used for Apache and Tomcat communication. October 2009 release for HP-UX Defects are fixed in HP SMH 3.0.2.1 for HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3, and HP SMH 2.2.9.3.1 for HP-UX 11i v1. Following are the details: • Changes are made in the Namazu search engine to fix a security vulnerability. This defect fix was earlier (July web release) available only on HP-UX 11i v3.
