HP SVA V2.1 System Administration Guide

3.5.2 Set User Passwords
This is not a system manager task. It is included here so that you are aware of the need for users
to complete this step before using VirtualGL and TurboVNC.
If not done already, individual users must set the TurboVNC passwords for their username
account using the following command:
% /opt/TurboVNC/bin/vncpasswd
The password is saved in ~/.vnc/passwd. Individual users can provide both user and view-only
passwords. These should be different. Users can give the view-only password to someone so
that they can see the remote session, but not interact. TurboVNC assigns access based on which
password is used. The user password lets you provide mouse and keyboard input.
It's possible that a user has an old version of the VNC password file. Delete ~/.vnc/passwd if
you get the following error:
Client could not authenticate.
3.5.3 Install TurboVNC Client on the Desktop System
System managers or individual users can do this task. The procedure is different for Windows
and Linux desktops. You can download the necessary rpm files from the VirtualGL web site:
www.virtualgl.org.
Windows Desktop:
Download and run TurboVNC-0.3.2.exe to install the Windows client.
Linux Desktop
Run and install turbovnc-0.3.2.i386.rpm, which includes the vncviewer.
Note that turbojpeg-1.04.x86_64.rpm is a prerequisite. Its installation was described
in Section 3.5.1.
