2 Installing Patch Kit
This chapter describes how to install this patch kit.
2.1 Compatibility and Installation Requirements
This section describes the compatibility information and installation requirements for this release.
For specific installation instructions, refer to Section 2.2 and the HP SVA Installation Guide.
2.1.1 Required Patches
Installation of this Patch does not require any previous patches.
You can download the latest HP SVA Patch Kit from the following Web site:
http://www2.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/mainPage.do
Choose the patch/firmware database option in the left navigation pane. You then have several
search options available, including seaching listed patches for Linux (applicable for SVA) or you
can enter SVA into the Search box on most pages.
2.1.2 Required Software and Operating System Compatibility
This Patch Kit requires that you already have the following software installed on your HP SVA
system:
HP XC Version 3.0
HP SVA V1.1
To find out what HP SVA Software you currently have installed, run the following command:
% cat /etc/sva-release
SVA V1.1 produces the following output:
HP SVA V1.1-0 200601231630
SVA V1.1 Patch Kit 1 and Patch Kit 3 produce the following output, respectively:
HP SVA V1.1.1 200604132111
HP SVA V1.1.3 200606271431
Note that you can ignore the numerical date identifier (2006...), which varies with each build.
2.1.3 Hardware Requirements
This version of HP SVA runs on HP Cluster Platform 3000 or 4000 systems with the HP XC V3.0
System Software.
2.1.4 Patch Kit Naming Conventions
Patch kits are named in the form:
SVA-1.1.n.tar.gz
MeaningNumeral
The compatible version of HP SVA, in this case, V1.1. The
final .n denotes the specific patch kit's version. For
example, 1.1.3 denotes HP SVA V1.1, Patch Kit 3.
