HP Scalable Visualization Array New Features and Release Notes Version 2.1.2
1 Welcome to the HP Scalable Visualization Array Version
2.1.2 Release
The HP SVA development team is pleased to offer this version of its SVA product. This
visualization solution combines a cluster of industry standard workstations and servers running
HP XC and the software APIs and utilities (that is, the SVA Visualization System Software)
developed by HP. Together, these hardware and software components bring the power of parallel
computing to the task of image visualization for large data sets.
This chapter addresses the following topics:
• “Contents of the HP SVA Version 2.1.2 Release” (page 7)
• “First Step” (page 7)
• “New Features in this Release” (page 7)
For information and the procedure for installing the HP SVA Version 2.1.2 release, see Chapter 2
(page 11).
For the release notes, see Chapter 3 (page 15).
NOTE: See also the HP XC System Software Installation Guide for information on installing the SVA
product.

The components of the SVA release are:
• A tar.gz file, which contains the HP SVA rpm package file.
• This document.
The SVA 2.1.2 release is cumulative, containing changes to various components and scripts within
SVA.
IMPORTANT: This release cannot be installed on systems running versions prior to SVA 2.1.
This release is not intended for a fresh install of SVA on the target system.
First Step
Before you proceed with the installation of this release, verify that the existing HP SVA installation
is installed and running properly by running the SVA OVP (sva_ovp) utility and verifying that
all tests pass.
For information, see “Running the SVA OVP utility” (page 13).
New Features in this Release
The following list summarizes the new features in this release:
• New SVA script to achieve Framelock
This SVA release includes a new script, named svaframelock.sh, to achieve Framelock
in SVA. A new manpage, svaframelock(1) is included in this release. This script provides
improved framelock functionality compared to the existing svacontrolframelock. The
svacontrolframelock script can framelock only the first display output of each X server.
The svaframelock script must be used when the functionality provided by
svacontrolframelock is not sufficient.
A new parameter SVA_FRAMELOCK_PORTS was introduced in the sva.conf file for finer
control of framelock on a display surface.
