DLT Library
Status Display
The first line of the status display (the library status line) shows the state of the
CAP. The normal CAP states are
CAP Locked, No Entry The cartridge access port cannot be used.
ENTER Unlocks CAP The cartridge access port can be unlocked by pressing
the ENTER key.
CAP Unlocked The cartridge access port is ready to be opened.
The remaining three lines of the status display show information about the DLT
drives, including drive type and current operational status.
The possible messages displayed for current tape drive operational status are
Comm Err Communication error.
Hdw Err Hardware error.
Clean me The drive needs cleaning.
Wrt Prot The cartridge loaded in the drive is write protected.
Loaded A cartridge tape is loaded in the drive.
Unloaded No cartridge tape is loaded in the drive.
Not Installed No DLT drive is installed in that slot.
A typical status display looks like the example below.

In this example, the message lines indicate
(Line 1
) The cartridge access port is locked.
(Line 2)
Drive 2 is empty (third slot from bottom in the library)
(Line 3)
Drive 1 (second from bottom) contains an installed DLT4000 drive that
is loaded with a cartridge tape.
(Line 4
) Drive 0 (bottom) contains an installed DLT7000 drive that is not
loaded with a cartridge tape.
