Installing the LTO Cable Connectors
The following procedures describe how to install the tape channel connectors for the tape
drives.
Standard Drive Column 0 Connectors
Note: Drive Column 0 is the standard drive column included in all libraries. It is the
column that contains the calibration label at the bottom. Some of the
following steps may require two people. Refer to Figure 4 for orientation in
the following steps.
1. Go to the rear of the library, open the door, and locate the connector bulkhead.
Note: To make the steps that follow easier, the rear door of the 20/700 can be
removed by detaching the landard chord on the frame side and then
lifting door off the hinges. It is only necessary to remove the rear door if
you are installing cables on the first drive tower.
2. Locate the hardware kit from the drive packaging, and remove both the SCSI Y-cable
and the package of jack screws.
3. Prepare the Y-cable for insertion into the bulkhead:
a. Determine the orientation of the 68-pin connector. The connector goes into the
tape library bulkhead in a vertical position (see Figure 4).
b. Thread a jack screw into the bottom edge of the connector.
Note: Thread the jack screw fully into the hole and then back it out 1/4 turn.
