8. Configure the RMC for operation (see the next section, “Configuring
the Remote Management Card”).
NOTE If you do not download new firmware, you may receive a Partial Availability
message on your frontpanel,and the RMC may not operate properly.See
the Autoloader User Manual for more information on partial availability.
Configuring the Remote Management Card
NOTE A category 5 Ethernet cable supports a 10/100 BaseT Ethernet
connection.
1. Install one end of a category 5 Ethernet cable into the network port of
the RMC. Ensure the other end is connected to an active network
port.
2. On the autoloader’s back panel, verify that the link LED on the RMC
is green. This LED is labeled
Link on the back of the autoloader.
3. Ensure the network port is active by checking with your system
administrator.
4. From the front panel enter the
Network Access menu.
5. If you would like to use DHCP/BOOTP to configure your remote
management card, select
[Yes], otherwise select [No], and skip to step
6.
• A message will display to confirm your configuration through
DHCP/BOOTP, or alert you if DHCP/BOOTP failed.
• If successful, note the IP address, and skip to step 9.
