BOOTP
The RMC can also act as a “BOOTP client”. BOOTP is similar to DHCP
since it dynamically assigns an IP address to any BOOTP client that
requestsone.ThedifferenceisthattheBOOTPservermustbepre-
configured for the autoloader by the system administrator. The system
administrator assigns a permanent IP address to the autoloader’s Media
Access Control (MAC) address. When the autoloader is powered on, the
BOOTP server responds and assigns the permanent address to the
autoloader. The IP address never expires and cannot be used with any
other BOOTP client. The MAC address is available from the autoloader
front panel.
NOTE To correctly set caching for Internet Explorer™, go to the Windows
Control Panel and select
[Internet]. Click on the [General] tab. In the
Temporary Internet Files section, click on the
[Settings] button. Select
[Every Visit to the Page],andclickonthe[OK] button to exit. (Netscape
Communicator™ and Netscape Navigator™ set caching automatically.)
