The following support notices include compatibility information for the
HP SureStore Tape Autoloader 1/9 for the following HBAs:
• LSI Logic SYM 22915 HBA
• QLogic QLA1280
LSI Logic SYM22915 HBA
The LSI Logic SYM22915 HBA is not supported with DLT1 autoloaders.
The table below describes the issue and cause.
QLogic QLA1280 HBA
You may experience the following issue with the QLogic QLA1280 HBA
when used with a DLT1 or HP Ultrium autoloader. The table below
describes the issue and provides a solution.
Issue Cause
Using an LSI Logic
SYM22915 HBA with a
DLT1 autoloader in
Windows NT can cause the
operating system to fail,
resulting in a blue screen.
The SYM22915 is a SCSI 3 HBA, while
the DLT1 tape drive is a SCSI 2 device
that does not support SCSI 3
commands. When the HBA tries to
negotiate by a Parallel Protocol Request
(PPR message), the DLT1 tape drive
does not respond as expected to this
SCSI 3 command. This results in a
system failure.
Issue Solution
Communication problems, detection
errors, and I/O errors may occur
when using the terminators that
ship with the DLT1 and HP
Ultrium autoloaders when used
with the QLogic QLA1280 HBA.
Do not use the terminators that
ship with the autoloader.
Instead use the terminator that
ships with the QLA1280 HBA
to ensure successful operation.
