Fibre Channel Interface Cards
Fibre cards with part numbers C7200-60109 or C7200-60016 must have a MINIMUM library firmware revision
requirement of 1.10.x (where “x” is any number or letter). Any attempt to use this part on a library with a firmware
revision less than the minimum requirement will put the library into a partial availability state. NOTE: Any attempt
to download less than the minimum firmware requirement will be disregarded by the library, and the library will
remain in the partial availability state.
There is a compatibility problem with C7200-60009 and C7200-60109 fibre channel cards. If a library has both of
these fibre channel cards, it might hang or fail power up with "Failed Inventory Check on a Drive" (Hardware error
64) or "I2C command did not complete" (Qualifier 60). In addition, the front panel might be locked up. DO NOT
REPLACE THE DRIVE! Despite the wording in the error, this is a timing problem between the two fibre channel
cards. The cards must all be either C7200-60009 versions or all C7200-60109 versions. Mixing the two versions is
not supported. Therefore, there may be cases where fibre channel boards in a library need to be replaced to ensure a
common board version.
Fibre cards with part numbers C9520-60009 or C9520-60016 must have a MINIMUM library firmware revision
requirement of 1.25.x (where “x” is any number or letter). Any attempt to use this part on a library with a firmware
revision less than the minimum may cause the library to hang. NOTE: It is not possible to upgrade library firmware
to1.25.x if the current firmware is LESS THAN 1.22.x. Therefore, in order for libraries with firmware LESS
THAN 1.22.x to upgrade to 1.25.x AND HIGHER revisions, the library must FIRST be upgraded to 1.22.x and
then 1.25.x firmware can be downloaded. Any attempt to download less than the minimum firmware requirement
will be disregarded by the fibre card, and the library will remain in the partial availability state.
Remote Management Card (RMC) PCA
Remote management cards with part numbers C7200-60110 or higher must have a MINIMUM library firmware
requirement of 1.10.x (where “x” is any number or letter). Any attempt to use this part on a library with a firmware
revision less than the minimum requirement will put the library into a partial availability state. NOTE: Any attempt
to download less than the minimum firmware requirement will be disregarded by the library, and the library will
remain in the partial availability state.
