An HP-UX Host is Grayed Out in the Administration
Application
The possible causes and solutions for this problem are listed in order from the most likely
to the least likely cause. If one solution does not work, continue by investigating the next
cause/solution in the list.
Symptom Cause/Solution
An HP-UX host is
displayed with a
gray missing host
icon.
The host’s status in the SAN Manager LM administration application is
incorrect. Ping the host in the SAN Manager LM administration application.
This should refresh host’s status in the administration application’s main
window.
The daemon is not running. To verify this, enter the command
ps -e | grep TR and press Enter. Run ioscan to start the daemon and then
ping the host in the SAN Manager LM application. If the host’s status remains
gray, continue with the next cause/solution, below.
The daemon is responding to the ping request in the first solution, but it
is responding with a database ID that is different than the database ID
that is being used by the Windows NT host. Hold down the Shift key and
ping the host in the SAN Manager LM administration application. This will
cause the HP-UX host to search for a new database. If the host’s status does
not refresh in the administration application, continue with the next
cause/solution, below.
