File System
A set of data files and associated metadata contained on storage devices that are
accessible by computer operating systems.
Global Group
A defined set of users from within a single domain. A global group may be granted rights
and permissions for use within its own domain, member servers and workstations of
the domain, and other trusting domains.
Graphical User Interface (GUI)
A visual method of displaying information and interacting with software.
Heterogeneous
A term used to describe an environment that includes multiple computers with
dissimilar operating systems.
Host Bus Adapter (HBA)
The hardware that provides the Fibre Channel connection capability to a computer; the
Fibre Channel network interface card.
Hosts
The network-attached computer systems that reside on the SAN and use the SAN
storage. They may be servers, clients, or attached systems using the storage.
Local Group
A defined set of users local to a machine. Such a group is not intended for use outside
the machine on which it is defined.
Logical Unit
A physical or virtual device addressable through another device. The disk drive is a
target, but also a logical unit.
