HP SureStore E SAN Manager LUN Management Administrator's Guide

Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) 155
Advanced SAN
Administration
When using the HP SAN Manager LM QLogic HBA driver with Microsoft Cluster Server
(MSCS) in a switched environment, set the BusResetBehavior registry value to 5, which
enables bus reset operations to successfully break SCSI reservations, allowing
successful cluster failover. A BusResetBehavior value of 5 enables target reset, LIP
reset, and full login. For more information about the BusResetBehavior registry value,
see page 188.
Setting Up a MSCS Share Group
1. Install Microsoft Windows NT Server Enterprise Edition on two or more servers.
2. Install Microsoft Service Packs or software updates.
3. Install the Fibre Channel hardware (page 20).
4. Install the SAN Manager LM software (page 23).
5. In the SAN Manager LM administration application, create a share group (page 103).
6. Select the devices that will be used by the cluster and assign them to the share group
(page 98).
7. Assign one of the cluster hosts to the share group (page 104).
8. From the cluster host in the share group, partition and format the cluster storage
according to MSCS’s requirements. See your Microsoft documentation for instructions.
9. Assign the remaining cluster hosts to the share group.
Caution Do not access the SAN devices until MSCS is set up.
10. For easy identification, configure the drive letters to match on each cluster host.
11. Install MSCS onto all of the share group hosts.
12. Configure MSCS according to the instructions in your Microsoft documentation.
