HP SureStore E SAN Manager LUN Management Administrator's Guide

152 Naming Conventions
Because this does not allow you to quickly make a connection between what you see in
SAN Manager LM and what you see in Windows Explorer/My Computer, you may want to
use a naming convention that ties together the device group, device, and volume labels. HP
suggests the following volume labeling convention:
Device Group name_Device name_Volume Label
For example:
In this example, the first volume DOC1_M_Released manuals is a partition of the Manuals
(M) device, located in the Documentation1 (DOC1) device group.
This naming convention allows the SAN Manager LM Administrator to quickly see the
connection between the device groups and devices in SAN Manager LM, and the drives
listed in Windows Explorer/My Computer. When the Manuals device is assigned to a host,
Windows Explorer/My Computer would show the following:
}
DOC1_M_Released Manuals
DOC1_M_Draft Manuals
DOC1_M_Obsolete Manuals
