5. To add the new host to the database, start SAN Manager LM on any host and do one of
the following:
Note Only SAN-attached hosts that are running the SAN Manager LM service can be
added to the SAN database.
• Open Network Neighborhood and drag one or more selected hosts into SAN Manager
LM’s hosts pane.
• Open Network Neighborhood and drag multiple selected domains, or a combination of
selected domains and hosts into SAN Manager LM’s hosts pane.
• To add hosts from the domain of the host that is running the SAN Manager LM
administration application, choose Database Scan Domain for Hosts or press
Control + .
• Some hosts are not listed in Network Neighborhood and cannot be discovered
dynamically by SAN Manager LM. These are non-Windows NT hosts that do not have
NetBIOS names. Use SAN Manager LM’s Add Host command to add these hosts to the
database. For instructions on using the Add Host command, see page 108.
Note For the Add Host command to work properly, the administration host must be
able to resolve the host name of the host to an IP address. This can be done
through either your network’s name server or the administration host’s local
hosts file. For more information, see your Windows NT documentation.
Tip The Windows NT Hosts file is stored in the c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc
directory. To add a non-Windows NT host to the Hosts file, enter it at the
bottom of the file in the following format: <IP Address> <hostname>. For
