Removing a Controller Module
C
AUTION
Electrostatic charges can damage sensitive components. Use a grounding
wrist strap before removing or handling the controller modules and place the
controller module on an antistatic mat when working on it.
Removing a controller module that is operating normally (not failed) could
result in data loss. Only remove a controller module if its Fault LED is on.
Note
If you are upgrading a single controller disk array FC60 to a dual controller
array, you may need to add a Fibre Channel I/O adaptor to the host system. This
will require shutting the host system down to install the adaptor card.
If you are replacing a functioning controller because you suspect it may be
causing problems, the state of the controller should be set to Failed before
removing it. When the new controller is installed, its status should be set to
Unfailed.
1. Remove the front cover. See "Front Cover Removal/Replacement" on page 322.
2. Squeeze the two center tabs inward and, at the same time, swing out the two latch
handles to release the controller module (see Figure 112).
3. Pull out on the controller latch handles to remove the controller from the enclosure.
