Troubleshooting
Checking the Battery Service Date
Note
Under normal circumstances, replace the BBU every two years. Operating the
disk array in a environment with elevated temperature (above 35
º
C or 95
º
F),
lowers the life expectancy of the BBU. Under these conditions you may need to
replace the battery every six months.
To check the service date on the BBU:
1. Remove the front cover from the controller enclosure.
2. Locate the Battery Support Information label on the front of the BBU. See Figure 85. The
label has three dates:
Date of Manufacture
- the date the BBU was built at the factory
Date of Installation
- the date the BBU was installed into the controller module
Replacement Date
- the date the BBU should be replaced
3. Check the replacement date. If it is time to replace the battery, see "Battery Backup Unit
(BBU) Removal/Replacement" on page 325. Otherwise, proceed to Step 4.
4. Reinstall the front cover on the controller enclosure.
