Note The green Activity LED (A in Figure 2) should be on while the disk spins up and then turn off. The
green Activity LED (A) will blink with I/O activity to the disk. An amber light (B in Figure 2) that is on
briefly when a component first comes on is normal. If this light stays on more than a couple of seconds, a
fault has been detected. See Table 2 for a full list of disk LED behaviors.
If you observe different results, further Troubleshooting may need to be carried out. (See Chapter 4 of
the
HP StorageWorks Disk System 2300 Users Guide or HP StorageWorks Disk System 2405 Users Guide
for troubleshooting procedures.)

ON OFF Installed and spinning up. If the LED is still on 3 minutes
after power is engaged, the disk may be faulty.
Flashing OFF Disk drive self-test in progress or there is input/output
activity to the disk.
OFF ON Disk drive fault (Controlled by host software).
ON/OFF Flashing Host is identifying the disk drive. (Controlled by the host
software).
OFF OFF Disk drive not installed or not operating.
