HP StoreEver MSL Tape Libraries LTO5 firmware release notes (Z68W, Y68W, I6BW)

Description
This release includes updated tape drive firmware for Ultrium 3000 and 3280 tape drives in HP
StoreEver 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloaders and MSL2024, MSL4048, MSL6480, MSL8048, and MSL8096
Tape Libraries.
The tape drive firmware can be updated through any of the following methods:
• Remote management interface (RMI).
• Operator control panel (OCP).
• HP Library and Tape Tools (L&TT).
Tape drive firmware versions: Z68W, I6BW, and Y68W

Fixes
• Fixed a corner case where the drive reported 0x508F/0x5090/0x5092 read errors.
• Fixed a case where the drive could report a write error 0x40AA.
• Fixed a corner case when the drive could append data in the incorrect location.
• Fixed a case where the drive could not decrypt data from an LTO-4 tape after the previously
loaded cartridge was an LTO-5 tape.
• Fixed a case when the drive could appear unresponsive when a non-approved cleaning cartridge
was or had been loaded.
• Fixed a rare case where a non-HP drive could not write to a cartridge written by the HP drive.

1. Download current firmware using HP Library & Tape Tools or from the HP support website: http://
www.hp.com/support/storage.
2. Navigate to the Maintenance > Software Upgrades > Drive Firmware screen. The tape drives are
organized by drive type.
